Regreasing During Operation |
|
When adding grease to bearings through grease fittings or other ports, it is usually best to regrease while the machinery is in operation if safety permits. Depending on the application, this allows excessive grease, with the aid of the moving bearing elements, to be pushed out of the bearing track to an adjacent cavity, vent port or other exit pathway. Lubrication routes and preventive maintenance (PM) can be modified automatically by lubrication software based on simple oil analysis and field inspection information provided by the lubrication crew on a daily basis. These tailored routes can improve effectiveness by focusing on critical machines, which are checked more frequently depending on the condition of the lube oil and the lubrication system. | FULL STORY
Question: How does a viscosity index improver work?
| GET THE ANSWER
From "People: A Reliability Success Story":
Condition-based maintenance is based on identifying measurable criteria that allows the time to plan for early intervention on failures, thus helping to reduce catastrophic and secondary damage. The earlier you are able to detect the failure, the more time you will have to prepare the spares, ensure labor resources and communicate the need to everyone. | Read more about "People: A Reliability Success Story"
